Honest answers.

The questions string players actually ask before trying Orchestra Kingdom. No marketing-speak, no over-promises.

Product

  • What does Orchestra Kingdom actually do?

You record 30 seconds of any audition excerpt on your instrument. The Judge — an AI tuned to the same rubric a real audition panel uses — returns a verdict (Advance / Callback / Not yet), an overall score 0-100, dimension scores across tone / intonation / rhythm / tempo / musicality, three strengths, three things to fix next, and a personalized practice drill. The whole loop takes about 90 seconds.

  • Is the AI any good?

Cold-test it yourself for free. The Judge's rubric is calibrated against real audition feedback from professional orchestra members. The verdict you get is meant to track what a panel would actually say in the room — strengths it would notice, dimensions it would flag. We publish the live verdict feed at /verdicts so you can see real takes, real verdicts, in motion.

  • Do you have a real teacher I can talk to?

Yes. The Teacher mode is a conversational AI music teacher — voice + camera + sheet music. You play, the Teacher listens, the Teacher responds in real-time with the same patterns a private teacher uses (constraint redirection, proprioceptive bridging, slow-practice prescriptions). It's not a replacement for a great human teacher, but it's the cheapest second opinion you can get on any given practice session.

    Talk to the Teacher
  • Will the AI give me a wrong score and confuse me?

Possible, especially on uncommon repertoire or unusual instruments. We mitigate three ways: (1) every report includes a confidence score so you can see when the model is less sure; (2) the strengths/fix-next sections are anchored to specific bar numbers so you can verify against your own ear; (3) you can flag any take that feels wrong and we use those flags to tune the rubric. We over-publish accuracy — if the model is uncertain it says so.

Pricing & Trial

  • Is it really free to start?

First Judge take is free, no card, no email gate. After that you have a 14-day free trial of Kingdom Pass with the card on file. Cancel from /billing in two clicks any time during the trial — no charge.

  • What's the difference between Pass and All-Access?

Pass is the daily practice tier: unlimited Judge takes, the Teacher up to 90 minutes a day, the Simulator, the Forge. All-Access adds the Audition Prep Mode (taper-aware drill scheduling for the 21 days before your audition), 240 minutes/day with the Teacher, priority queue placement during heavy load, and early access to new features.

    Compare plans
  • What's the Founding Member offer?

First 100 string players to subscribe lock in 20% off forever. Permanent — no expiry, no rate hikes when we raise prices later. Open through 2026-05-17 (launch day) and never offered again. About a third of the seats are taken at any given time; the live remaining count is on the Founding Member page.

  • Can my orchestra get a discount?

Yes — Court is the institutional tier. Section coordinators (or directors) buy a single subscription that covers their whole orchestra/section. Per-seat economics drop sharply with size; a 30-student violin section is dramatically cheaper than 30 individual subscriptions.

Privacy & Data

  • Do you keep my audio?

Yes, your audio is stored encrypted in Supabase storage so the Judge can re-evaluate over time and the Wrapped recap can show your trajectory. You can delete any take individually from your dashboard. Full account deletion (which wipes every audio file plus every derived report) is at /account/delete and is human-reviewed within 48 hours.

    Delete my account
  • Will my audio be used to train AI models?

No. We don't sell, license, or share your audio with any third party for model training. The Judge model is provider-hosted (Anthropic) and Anthropic's terms prohibit them from training on customer API inputs by default — we have not opted into any training-eligible mode.

  • Can I export my data?

Yes, in one click at /account/export. Returns a single JSON file with every Judge take + report, every Oracle practice plan, curriculum state, teacher session history, streak history, and email preferences. Useful if you want to back up or hand it to a private teacher.

    Export my data
  • I'm under 13. Can I use this?

Only with parent consent (COPPA). When the system detects a minor, the Judge is gated until a parent submits the consent form. Practice mode and basic exploration stay unlocked but the panel evaluation requires the consent step. Parents get a weekly digest of the student's progress through Mark XIX (the Mesh).

Billing & Refunds

  • How do I cancel?

Two clicks at /billing. Opens the Stripe customer portal. You keep access through the end of the paid period — no instant cutoff, no retention call, no email loop trying to win you back.

    Manage billing
  • Can I get a refund?

Yes. Email support@orchestrakingdom.app within 7 days of any charge if the product hasn't worked for you and we'll refund unused time. We're not interested in arguing — you'll get the refund the same day in most cases.

  • What happens when my trial ends?

The card on file is charged for the first paid period. We send a heads-up email three days before (Mark LXXXIII Mantle) AND one day before (Mark LXXXV Vesper) so the date is never a surprise. Cancel from /billing before the trial ends and you're not charged. Every email Orchestra Kingdom sends is documented at /email-program.

Instrument & Skill Level

  • Which instruments work?

Violin, viola, cello, double bass — the four orchestral string instruments. The rubric is calibrated for orchestral audition repertoire, not solo recital prep. Wind, brass, percussion, and voice are not currently supported and aren't on the immediate roadmap.

  • What if I'm a beginner?

The Judge will still score you, but the rubric is tuned to audition-grade playing — a beginner's score will be low and the strengths/fix-next will be primary-skill stuff. The Teacher mode is more useful for true beginners; it adapts to your declared level and meets you where you are.

  • Does it work for All-State / Region / All-County?

Yes — the Judge is calibrated against the same rubric panels at those levels actually use. We publish state-specific repertoire lists in the excerpts library and the Audition Prep Mode (All-Access tier) lets you set a target audition date and rebalances your daily drill schedule against it.

  • I'm a private teacher — can I use this with my students?

Yes. Mentor is the teacher tier — buy a seat pack and invite your students. You see each student's dashboard, can leave private notes per student, see weekly progress aggregates, and use the same Judge to give faster-than-real-time second opinions between lessons.
