Edouard Nanny's Concertino is one of the only purpose-written bass concertos at the intermediate level. It exploits the bass's lyrical capabilities rather than its technical limits. F major sits naturally on the bass in orchestra tuning. The open F fundamental is unavailable (lowest string is E), so tune the first note against the open A string up a third.
