The Aria · Mark CIV
A real lesson between your real lessons.
The Coach is a conversational AI music teacher built for string players. Voice-based. Sees your bow + posture via camera. Follows your sheet music. Adaptive to your level. Available the moment a private lesson ends and the real questions start.
Three modalities, one conversation
Voice — natural conversation
Talk to the coach the way you'd talk to a real teacher. No buttons. No menus. Ask 'why is the F-sharp in measure 7 sharp every time?' and get a real diagnostic answer.
Camera — bow and posture awareness
The coach watches your bow arm, your left-hand frame, your posture. Catches the things you cannot catch in a mirror — bow angle drifting toward the bridge, shoulder tension creeping in.
Sheet music — bar-specific feedback
Upload your part, the coach sees what you are playing, and gives notes by measure number. 'In measure 19 you rushed the sixteenth-note pattern by about 8%' — not generic advice.
Real teaching patterns, not chat-bot shape
Encoded with seven dialog patterns drawn from actual conservatory pedagogy. The four most-distinctive below; others kick in based on what you say.
Diagnostic listening
Asks you to play, listens for the actual problem (not the obvious surface symptom), names the cause. 'Your G-string crossings sound rough because the bow is dropping too far before the change. Try crossing 4 inches earlier.'
Constraint redirection
When you ask 'how do I make this passage sound more musical?', redirects to a constraint you can actually act on. 'For now, just hold the dynamic descent through measure 12. The musicality you want emerges from that one constraint.'
Proprioceptive bridging
Translates abstract musical instructions into body sensations. 'Focus on the weight of your bow elbow' instead of 'play with more weight'. The body finds it; the mind doesn't.
Slow-practice prescription
Knows when to demand slow practice, knows when fast practice is the actual gap. Doesn't reflexively say 'practice slow' for every problem.
What the Coach is, and is not
What it is
- + Second opinion between lessons
- + Practice partner that doesn't flinch at repetition
- + Patient diagnostician for the question you didn't ask your teacher
- + Available in the practice room at 11pm before your audition
What it is not
- + A replacement for a great human teacher
- + Capable of physically adjusting your bow hold
- + Right 100% of the time on uncommon repertoire
- + Trained on your audio (we never use customer data for training)
